Delivered in a Lecture in the University of Pennsylvania, on the 20th of February, 1781. by Benjamin Rush, M.D. Author: Rush, Benjamin Place: Philadelphia Publisher: Parry Hall Date: 1792 Description: 26 + [1] ad pp. (8vo) 21.5x12 cm (8½x5") pamphlet, trimmed, housed in modern brown morocco and cloth box with gilt title and spine. Third Edition. Here, in 1792, Rush's "New Method" is issued by Parry Hall one year before the nadir of Philadelphia's Yellow Fever epidemic and Rush's famous medical and humanitarian aid during this crisis to the citizens of Philadelphia. A signer of the Declaration of Independence, Benjamin Rush was the city's most famed eighteenth-century physician. The "second edition" was not a separate edition, but was published as an appendix to Rush's Medical Inquiries and Observations. Rare in this 1792 third edition, the second separate edition. Lot Amendments Condition: Expertly conserved, washed and mended; first two leaves infilled and second leaf with pale violet number stamped at bottom, pp 3-8 with scattered loss to several letters, foxing and light toning to textblock, some marks in period ink at top of title page; very good.
