The first tombs were uncovered in 1870; this report documents the subsequent excavation conducted by German geologists Reiss and Stuebel. Its publication was funded by the Museum of Ethnology in Berlin in exchange for the transfer of the excavated artefacts to the museum. Issued simultaneously in English and German, it presents the findings of the excavation in vivid chromolithographs of mummy bundles, textiles, quipu notes, and other grave goods. Palau 256818.
