The Historically Interesting Group of Awards and Associated Items Relating to Edwin Nye Esq., Steward to the Emperor of Germany, Kaiser Wilhelm II, in Service with the German Imperial Yacht Meteor (a) GERMANY, Prussia, Order of the Red Eagle, Medal, 2nd. type, copper-gilt, extremely fine , with riband, in case of issue (b) GERMANY, Prussia, Order of the Crown, Medal, 1st. type, copper-gilt, extremely fine , with riband, in case of issue (c) GERMANY, Prussia, The Jerusalem Cross, silver, silver-gilt, and enamel, extremely fine, scarce , with riband, in case of issue, together with letter of notification from the German Embassy in London, 2nd. February 1899 (d) Gold stick-pin, with crowned WE monogram, in Th. Müller, Weimar , fitted case A gift from Wilhelm-Ernst, Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar (e) Gold stick-pin, with crowned WC monogram, in J.H.Werner, Berlin , fitted case A gift from Wilhelm, Crown Prince of Prussia and Germany, and his wife Cecily, daughter of Frederick, Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (f) A metal-gilt circular badge, 22mm. diam., with crowned FV monogram in centre, in a damaged, M.Hansen, Kiel , box From an unidentified visitor to the Meteor. Badges of this type were frequently given by visiting Royalty to members of the yacht's crew (g) A pair of gold cufflinks with red and green enamel (for port and starboard), in Thiedländer, Berlin , fitted case (h) Eight large and six small gilt-metal naval buttons, by C.C. Sporrong & Co., Stockholm (i) A quantity of letters, including many from Mr. Nye to his fiancée Miss H. Goddard, describing life aboard the Imperial Yachts Meteor and Hohenzollern , some describing the Imperial visit to the Holy Land, 1898, others to Mr. Nye from Admiral Eisendecker with instructions for receiving the Emperor and guests on board the Meteor etc.,and a Pass from the British Consulate General at Constantinople for travelling to England via Odessa, 22nd. April 1893 (j) A quantity of postcards, some sent by Mr. Nye, including views of Kiel, Rügen, Hamburg, Emden, several of the Meteor , and a set of eight 'Kaiserkarte' of the Imperial visit to the Holy Land, 1898 (k) 1914-15 Star trio (H.W.Nye S.S.A. R.N.), and next-of-kin bronze plaque, extremely fine , in original card boxes of issue H.W.Nye was the son of Edwin Nye (lot)
