A rare opportunity to purchase the only known set of six Finnegans 'figurine' mascots, all designed by legendary French sculptor G. Poitvin, renowned for their intricate castings & remarkable detailing. This rare set includes; 'Beck' - A rare Automobiles Beck 'Vertige de la Vitesse' marque mascot by G. Poitvin, 1920-1922, silvered bronze figure of a girl bent forward facing the wind, with her dress blowing in the wind behind her and trying to keep her balance, with Contenot-Lelievre foundry stamping to the side of the base. This amazing mascot creation was commissioned for Hermes in 1921. Signed by the sculptor, with numberings. Approximately 15cm tall & similar examples of this individual mascot have sold for $10,000 at auction in the United States of America. 'Medusa' - A rare 'Gorgan - Medusa' mascot by G Poitvin for Hermes, 1920, with all registration numbers, the Contenot- Lelievre foundry cartouche and also the G.Poitvin sculptors name on the base, a very fine mascot depicting a draped nude kneeling on a rocky outcrop, originally offered exclusively by Hermes from their Paris showroom, finished in silver-plated bronze, with fabulous definition, 12cm high. Similar examples of this individual mascot have sold for in excess of $6,000 in the United States of America. 'Speed God' - One of the most desirable motor mascots of all, this superb accessory mascot of the 1920's period, produced for Finnigans Motor Accessories of London, England, features its original nickel plated finish with various markings including 'Finnigans London', 'Made in France', an inserted 'founder's disk of authenticity' and the signature of the designer. A most impressive and rare artefact, correctly hollow-cast, unlike some reproductions available. It is said to depict Mercury the Winged Messenger, wearing his helmet/goggles. A beautiful multi-component mascot, measuring approximately 14cm tall. 'Vine Picker' - A rare 'Vine Picker' mascot by G Poitvin, 1921 - 1922, with all registration numbers, the Contenot-Lelievre foundry cartouche and also the G.Poitvin sculptors name on the base, a very fine mascot depicting a beautiful young lady wearing her summer dress, picking a bunch of grapes from the vine, finished in silver-plated bronze hollow casting, with fabulous definition, 17cm high. 'Pathfinder' - A magnificent `Pathfinder' accessory mascot, designed by G. Poitvin for Finnigans Motor Accessories, London. Hollow cast solid nickel construction, it features the Pathfinder sitting on a rock, looking out to sea with his hand to his head. 1920's period & superbly detailed, it sports various markings, including `Finnigans - London' and `Made in France', together with the signature of the artist `G. Poitvin' & an inserted founder's disc of `Contenent Le Livre of France'. A rare and very beautiful accessory mascot. 'The Dancer' - A rare Automobiles Beck 'Ballerina Girl' accessory mascot by G. Poitvin, 1924-1926, unbelievably well-detailed silvered bronze figure of a ballerina girl gazing down at the ground, holding the corners of her dress up, whilst standing on her tip-toes, with Contenot-Lelievre foundry stamping to the side of the base.
