(The February Sale | Fine Art, Antiques & Jewellery, 22nd February 2020) A late 1920s to early 1930s Spanish Oriol Art Deco white metal teaset comprising a teapot, lidded sugar bowl, and a milk jug, with black-finished wooden handles, and a matching wooden tray finished in black lacquer with applied shaped silver rim, the bases and tray rim stamped '916 CV 916 ORIOL'. (Qty: 4) Tray 55.5cm long, teapot 17cm high Oriol was a high quality jewellery, silver and gold retailer in Barcelona, and founded in 1854. The use of the '916' silver standard mark indicates a date of manufacture before 1934. The 'CV' mark is probably for the (as yet unknown) designer or the silversmith.
