The Crown Research Library: A large collection of books relating to history and current affairs To include: A History of Modern Britain, Andrew Marr; The Great Shoots, Brian P. Martin; Spymaster, Martin Pearce; Daughter of Empire, Pamela Hicks; The Restless Years, Cecil Beaton, approximately 240 volumesFootnotesThe Crown's Research department was made up of five full-time researchers and various part-time specialists. The team worked closely with writer Peter Morgan and the script team from the storylining of a season through to the script stage, and with other departments including the cast, directors, costume, art, and locations departments during filming. They sourced and evaluated all forms of media from books to newspapers and archival footage, as well as consulting with primary sources close to the characters conveyed in the show, to provide the production with a detailed and analytical portrait of the period and characters.
