Revised Edition. Accounts of and narratives by William Henry Ashley, Jedediah Strong Smith, Harrison G. Rogers, and others. The Zamorano 80 calls it "The source-book of Jedediah Strong Smith, trapper and trader, and the first white man to enter California overland from the eastern United States." Howes D21; Zamorano 80 #25. Condition: Minor wear to cloth, imprint rubbed at spine foot; frontispiece map creased on left margin, inkstamp of Santa Maria Inn on front pastedown; very good.
