Beschreibung:

[TEXAS]. LEA, Tom (1907-2001). The King Ranch. Kingsville, Texas: The King Ranch, 1957. 8vos. Illustrations throughout by Lea. 2 volumes. Bound in full “Saddle Blanket” crashed linen cloth, the special with the “W” brand of the King Ranch on the boards, in the publisher’s full oatmeal cloth slipcase with gilt-stamped calf label on slipcase (mild rubbing to book bindings, label on slipcase somewhat worn and lightly chipped, some occasional soiling in text). Near fine. THE LIMITED “SADDLE BLANKET” EDITION, ONE OF 3,000 COPIES PRINTED BY CARL HERZOG. “Few, if any, Texas books have had such a perfect blend of text, design, and illustration…” (Jenkins). “Privately printed history of the largest ranch in Texas. No copies of this book were sold, and so while 3,000 copies were printed, only those given away by the owners of the ranch have come on the market, hence its rarity. Perhaps the most exhaustive ranch history ever written…” (Reese). Jenkins, Basic Texas Books, 121A. Reese, Six-Score, 69.
