During the Texas Revolution, the provisional government was the only governing body in Texas between November 15, 1835 and March 1, 1836. "This in fact is a report of the operations of the Provisional Government; the work of Gov. Smith, Gen. Houston, and the Council, and of their dissensions" (Raines).
