Tennyson, Alfred Lord THE VICTIM. CRANFORD MANOR, 1867. [WITH:] THE WINDOW OR THE LOVES OF THE WRENS. CRANFORD MANOR, 1867. Small folios (280 x 205 mm). Printed on rectos only; mildest of foxing. Original red morocco with gilt title to front cover and gilt monogram of printer Sir Ivor Guest to rear. first edition and first separate printing respectively, each in an edition of only 25 copies. A project by Tennyson's aristocratic friends at the press of Sir Ivor Bertie Guest at Cranford Manor, with Enid and Blanche Guest and Lady Charlotte Schreiber assisting in funding. Lady Schreiber's bookplate is in The Victim and The Window has three lines of manuscript verse in the poet's hand tipped-in. Rare, with no copies at auction since the 1930's. OCLC lists only seven copies of the first title and none of the second.
