The Swiss painter, engraver and illustrator Hans Emi started creating tapestries following his contact with some of the greatest 20th century artists such as Kandinsky, Braque, Picasso or Mondrian, however, even with these many influences, cubism stayed very present in his work. The editor of this tapestry, the Moulin de Vauboyen, was a very prolific artistic and cultural centre frequented by many artists such as Volti, Braque, Commere, Weisbuch and Goerg for sculpture and lithography or yet again, Costeau, Foujita, Van Dongen, Carzou or Erni who were creating their very first tapestries.
