Basel: getruckt durch Jacob Werenfels, in verlegung Johann Königs, 1664. 3 parts in one vol., folio, 372 x 231 mm., rebound in calf with original portions of original calf binding preserved on covers, including central gilt stamp on sides of crowned monogram "ME" within wreath; browned throughout, some minor flaws (mostly marginal). First enlarged edition, including several hundred new woodcuts and the first to be edited by Caspar and Jean Bauhin. Engraved title, 2 printed titles, and very numerous woodcuts in text. Nissen BBI 1931. Provenance : Arpad Plesch, bookplate (sale, Sotheby's London, 15 March 1976, lot 733) -- Robert de Belder.
