Abraham Hayyim Rodrigues was a rabbi and the head of the Yeshiva in Livorno, Italy. He was the teacher of Malachi ben Jacob ha-Cohen, the author of the well-known book, Yad Malachi. The title-page for the first manuscript reads: elleh divrei ha-berit, etc., from the comments [hiddushim] that were discussed [she-nithhadshu] in the yeshivah of Abraham Hayyim Rodrigues, collected and written by a pupil of his in 1726. Within the first manuscript, there is a distinct title-page that reads: “The rest of our teacher’s comments on Rashi,” and is signed 1726 in Livorno. The final 25 leaves are written in a different hand and taken from a different manuscript. They are bound upside down and contain an alphabetical collection of sayings, grammatical remarks, etc. At the text’s conclusion it is signed: ani maavar yabok, with the letters yb”k emphasized.
