Publisher's brown cloth, spine and covers stamped and lettered in gilt and blind, housed in a custom half-morocco slipcase. Title vignettes and 6 wood-engraved plates. 7 1/2 x 4 3/4 inches (19.5 x 12.5 cm); 312 pp.; 322 pp. Lacking flyleaf at rear of volume one, neat contemporary ownership signatures to front free endpaper and title, very intermittent internal spotting, both volumes with a very slight lean, spine tips with a few short tears and chips, spines slightly darkened and covers with a few small stains.
