Stephen Crane's Maggie The Manney copy, in original wrappers [CRANE, Stephen (1871-1900).] Maggie. New York: Privately printed, 1893. The Manney copy of Crane’s rare first book, in the notoriously fragile original wrappers. Published at his own expense after numerous rejections from publishers, sales of Maggie were extremely low; Crane gave away about 100 copies, and many he burned himself. BAL 4068. Octavo. (Several leaves with corners and edge chips neatly repaired, mostly at front and back, and including repairs to inner margin of title). Original wrappers (backstrip renewed, edges of wrappers restored, a little restoration to front cover, repairs along joints).
