With Observations upon a Recent Publication Entitled "A Narrative of Occurances in the Indian Countries," etc. Author: [Halkett, John] Place: London Publisher: John Murray Date: 1817 Description: viii, 194, [2], c pp. Folding frontispiece map. 9x5½, original buff boards. Second (enlarged) Edition. Essentially the first published edition, as the privately-published first edition was for very limited circulation. Halkett was Selkirk's brother-in-law and this "Statement" (particularly the testimonials in the appendixes) was in support of Selkirk's legal case against the North-West Co. Bibliographia of Canadiana 1093; Sabin 20704. Lot Amendments Condition: Front board detached; paper spine label chipped; text and map quite clean and worthy of restoration, fair. Item number: 170685
