A long rectangular star chart, 36 by 6½ inches, made from 6 segments taped together into a continuous loop. Identification text reads: "Gemini Celestial Display Device, Prepared by the U.S. Army Map Service, Corps of Engineers under NASA Purchase Request No. T-27508-G. Edition 2-AMS, OCT 1965." Constellations are outlined with associated stars from magnitudes 1 to 5. The straight line of the celestial equator and the curved dotted line of ecliptic plane are located along the middle of the chart. Used in training by the Gemini 6 crew. WITH TOM STAFFORD'S signed note, reading in part: "Commander Wally Schirra and I used this star chart during training and simulations as we prepared for our Gemini 6 Agena rendezvous mission. The Agena failed to reach orbit on October 25, 1965, so our Gemini Titan launch was scrubbed. We were in our spacecraft waiting to fly when we heard the news of the Agena failure and had some comments between ourselves which were too strong to print here. The chart has ID information reading: 'Gemini Celestial Display Device' ... Stars and constellations are plotted north and south of the celestial equator that runs down the center of the chart."
