Fine engraved portraits of George Carew as Earl of Totnes and Queen Elizabeth, double-page folding engraved map of Munster and 17 plates and plans, mostly double-page, one folding. (A washed copy.) Red hard-grained morocco gilt by Rivière, gilt edges. Provenance : William Anstruther (signature dated 7 July 1633 at head of title). FIRST EDITION. Stafford compiled his impartial history of the Irish wars from the manuscripts of George Carew, which he inherited. STC 23132.
