Original pale blue paper boards. Condition : neat paper repair to hinge to ff.31-32, some worming to hinge and flyleaves, catalogue entry pasted down to endpapers, lightly thumbsoiled, toned; boards loose exposing cords, spine perished at head and tail, significantly wormed, some gouges and loss. In the 15th century, Bologna, along with Prague, Cracow, Vienna and Padova, were leading university towns and centers for scholarly activity in astronomy. Contemporary to this activity, Paulerinus, (1413-1471) a master of the University at Bologna, composed his comprehensive encyclopedia Liber viginti arcium that was principally both astronomical and astrological in context. It is likely that this present manuscript is influenced by his research and was created for a scholar of astronomy.
