SOUTHERN ARABIAN BRONZE SEATED FEMALE FIGURE 2nd century AD A cast bronze figure of a female, in seated pose; her left arm raised towards the body, a branch or quill in the hand; the right arm lowered, the hand holding a disc-shaped object, possibly a dish; the figure wearing a long garment with pleat detailing, the outline of her legs visible; the face with small, stylised features; the hair in chignon style, separately cast and attached to the body with a bronze pin, in situ; the underside indented for attachment to a base; the lower body pierced for attachment, the pin now lost. 168 grams, 90 mm (3 1/2"). Very fine condition. Provenance From an important Mayfair, London, collection; acquired in the 1990s.
