A small-format commonplace book apparently compiled by Christopher Smith, carefully written in ink in a small hand, in Latin and english, including quotations, paraphrases and notes on such diverse subjects as "The moon" (reflecting a reading of John Wilkins' The discovery of a new world (London, 1638); "history," "Lust," "Spaniards & Spaine," "The worlde: its 4 partes," 16-pp. on abbreviations in Hebrew (drawn from Buxtorf), notes taken from Hermann Hugo, "Ye powder treason" (of 1605), and "Of tobacco." -- [With:].
