Manuscript Travel Albums
2 vol., with many original watercolours, some highlighted in gold, pen, ink and wash drawings, pencil sketches etc. including a series of c. 25 Tagore and other company school paintings of various Indian subjects, and water colours of Pompei, a number of the original drawings and sketches being done by Mary Skinner’s husband, Samuel, and son Bruce. Throughout are copies of poems by friends of the Skinners and some original signed work by the likes of Julia Pardoe, Jane Porter, Sir John Malcom, and Agnes Strickland. There are some other peices in Tamil, Arabic and Hieroglyphic by the Egyptologist Sir John Gardner Wilkinson; and a 3 page descrition of the diamond mines of Golconda with a watercolour, sm. 4to, Shirley Park,Madras, and Chittor, c. 1820’s - 1850’s.
