SIR DONALD BRADMAN 1936-37, oil on canvas three-quarter length portrait of Bradman going out to bat, by Angelika Erbsland, signed and dated 2000 lower left, 101.5 x 76 cm, decorative gilt frame 118 x 92 cm The portrait is based on the image of Bradman and Stan McCabe going out to bat against England in the 1936-37 series. See page 158 Images of Bradman . This was Bradman's first Test series as captain and also as a selector. Having lost the first 2 Tests Australia levelled the series by winning the 3rd and 4th Tests. The 5th Test was the decider. Bradman's 169 and McCabe's 112 helped Australia mass a total of 604 runs to win by an innings and 200 runs.
