Nouveaux Desseins pour graver sur l'orfeverie..., engraved pictorial title and 5 plates (numbered 1-6) of decorations for silver including trays, bowls, teapots and sugar casters, [Berlin Kat. 1055; Cohen-de Ricci 694], Paris, Mariette, [c.1710] bound with several other similar suites of ornamental plates by Le Pautre, Mariette, Langlois, Androuet du Cerceau, de la Guertière, Loire, Le Bouteux, Touchar, Le Blond, Pineau and Cotelle, forming a total of 150 engraved plates, a few with title, one or two suites incomplete, a couple of plates bound upside down, occasional light marginal soiling or browning, one with small marginal tear, bound together in magnificent later dark blue morocco, by Rivière & Son, elaborately tooled in gilt with double fillet border and panel with ornate floral frame and corner-pieces, spine gilt in compartments with floral decoration and six raised bands, g.e., very slight rubbing to corners and lower joint at head, folio; sold as a collection of plates, not subject to return ⁂ Superb collection of plates with designs for ewers, cartouches, gold & silver, marquetry, friezes, embroidery, grotesque details of Raphael's frescoes in the Vatican loggia, wheelchairs, parterres, gardens & garden buildings, textiles, and ceilings.
