The singular work of Pomeranian priest William Meinhold, this immersive historical novel was highly influential on the pre-Raphaelites. This translation by Lady Wilde, mother of Oscar, had been previously printed in 1849 and was already well known to Morris's artistic milieu. One of 300 copies from an edition of 310.
