SIBELIUS, Jean (1865-1957). Autograph letter signed and typed letter signed to an unidentified correspondent ('Dear Brother') and to Sir Ronald Storrs, n.p. and Järvenpää, 6 March 1938 and 11 January 1952, the autograph letter in Swedish, the typed letter in English, one page, 4to, in autograph, and one page, 8vo, typescript . The autograph letter is a brief note of thanks for greetings - 'Your memory is admirable'. The typed letter, to Sir Ronald Storrs, thanks him for birthday greetings, congratulates Storrs on his own 70th birthday, and asks him to pass a message to Sir Thomas Beecham -- 'He will come to Finland this spring and I hope to see him then'. Sir Ronald Storrs (1881-1955) was described by T.E. Lawrence as 'the most brilliant Englishman in the Near East'; famously cultivated, he served in a number of postings, including as the first British Governor of Jerusalem, from 1917 to 1926. (2)
