Set of Four Plymouth (William Cookworthy Porcelain White Figures of the Continents Circa 1770, unmarked All four modeled standing on carved rococo-scroll bases, the semi-nude America with feathered headdress and tunic, her right hand drawing an arrow from a quiver, a prairie dog at her feet; Asia wearing a 'jeweled diadem, necklace and bracelet, her décolleté silk robes revealing her left shoulder, holding a censor, a camel at her side; Africa with a drape at her hip, a crocodile and a lion at her side, and an elephant mask helmet at her feet; and Europe as a classic muse holding a book and an artist's palette, a horse, cannon and cuirass at her feet. Height of larger 13 1/2 inches. Provenance: T.D. & T.O. Kellock Collection. Sotheby's & Co., London, 18 July 1972, . Exhibited: Mint Museum, Charlotte, NC, October 2004 - January 2005. Multiple firing flaws to all four, America with an associated hairline to her quiver, her bow and the prarie dog's tail missing; discolored old restoration to Africa's crocodile's jaw and tree-trunk and Europe's neck.
