De re rustica , Venice: Nicolaus Jenson, 1472, 3 parts (and fragment of fourth) in one volume, 2°, FIRST EDITION of all texts, without Merula's letter to Dominicus Georgius and with all the 14 leaves of Enarrationes at end, 242 (of 302) leaves, 40 lines, type 1:115R, 115Gk, guide-letters, first 8-line initial in gold on blue, red and green ground (colours rubbed and faded) incorporating an elaborate woven strapwork extension in brown ink, the lower margin with early German coat-of-arms (heavily rubbed with discolouration), 17 other 8-line initials similarly illuminated, 2- to 3-line initials and paragraph marks alternating in red and blue, gold capital strokes (faded to pale yellow), late 18th century vellum gilt, leather spine label, (lacking leaves: 1/1 (blank), 19/7 (Palladius tabula), 20/2-21(8) 22-24 (10) 25/1-9 (all but 5 leaves of Palladius text), 26/1 (blank), 26/11-12 (letter from Merula to Dominicus Georgicus, often not present), and 33/6 (blank), text blocked cracked where portion of text lacking, clean diagonal tear across 2/8 repaired (crossing 29 lines) with some browning where rejoined, several wormholes penetrating the lower half of the textblock, lower fore-corner repaired on 17/1, leaves 17/1-17/2 evenly browned, some leaves soiled).
