Volume one is inscribed “E.A. Shipley with so many thanks for all your help, K. Scott, 1913” and includes a loosely inserted photograph of Kathleen Scott. Each volume is inscribed “G.R. Shipley Stewart, Mother, Xmas 1927”. Ex libris Sir Arthur Everett Shipley (1861-1927), zoologist and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge. He advised Sir Ernest Shackleton regarding scientific staff for the Endurance Expedition (1914-17), and helped Shackleton interview the candidates. (2)
