Scott (Captain R.F.). Scott’s Last Expedition, Being the Journals of Captain R.F. Scott, R.N., C.V.O., Being the Reports of the Journeys & the Scientific Work Undertaken by Dr. E.A. Wilson and the Surviving Members of the Expedition, Arranged by Leonard Huxley, with a Preface by Sir Clements R. Markham, 2 vols., 1st ed., 1913, photogravure portrait frontispiece to each, folding maps and half-tone plates, inscriptions to front free endpapers, adhesive tape residue to upper pastedown of vol. 1, occasional light spotting, t.e.g., original cloth gilt, upper joint of vol. 1 a little frayed, light fraying at head & foot of spines, 8vo. Volume one is inscribed “E.A. Shipley with so many thanks for all your help, K. Scott, 1913” and includes a loosely inserted photograph of Kathleen Scott. Each volume is inscribed “G.R. Shipley Stewart, Mother, Xmas 1927”. Ex libris Sir Arthur Everett Shipley (1861-1927), zoologist and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge. He advised Sir Ernest Shackleton regarding scientific staff for the Endurance Expedition (1914-17), and helped Shackleton interview the candidates. (2)
