St Petersburg: I. Glazunov, 1851-1852. 5 parts in 1 volume, 8° (195 x 132mm). Near contemporary blue velvet, the sides with a blind-rule border, the upper side lettered in gilt, moiré silk endpapers. Provenance : Grand Duke Vladimir Aleksandrovich (1847-1909, blind-stamp) -- 'Printed in Russia' (small import stamp on leaf laid-in). GRAND DUKE VLADIMIR ALEKSANDROVICH'S COPY IN A VELVET BINDING, of these rare translations of Schiller by Prince Peter Georgevich Oldenburgskii. Grand Duke Vladimir, son of Alexander II and brother of Alexander III, was in the 1870s president of the Academy of Arts. Possibly published for private circulation, WorldCat locates no copy of Perchatka , just one of the others at the Berlin State Library, and an additional copy of Fridolin at the Anna Amalia Library. Not in ABPC or AE.
