Title of text volume in red and black with hand-coloured engraved vignette, hand-coloured headpiece and 2 initials, half-title. Engraved map and 67 plates on 65 sheets by Antonio Zaballi after Pompeio Schiantarelli. (Some foxing in text volume, margins of a few plates lightly spotted.) Text volume in contemporary red morocco, flat spine gilt, wide leafy and floral border round sides with infilled cornerpieces, at the centre of both sides a large oval tan morocco inlay with a leafy and floral border, at the middle a centrepiece made up of 4 flower tools (very slight signs of wear), g.e. Plate volume modern wrappers. Provenance : Guicciardini of Florence (armorial book-label in text volume). A fine book narrating and illustrating the terrible Calabrian earthquake of 1783. Copies with the plates are rarely found. (2)
