Russian Avant-Garde.- Tsvetaeva (Marina Ivanovna) Razluka [Separation], first edition, device on preliminary blank, original pink boards with printed label to design by A.Arnshtam, slightly torn at spine with some minor sunning but overall a very good copy, [Kilgour 290], 1922; Tsar'-devitsa. Poema - Skazka [Tsar-Maiden. Poem - Fairy Tale], first edition , woodcut device to preliminary blank, title printed in red & black, half-title printed in red, decorations and rubricated initials by L.E. Chirikova, occasional foxing, with loosely inserted typescript copy of Pasternak's poem In Memory of Maria Tsvetaeva in Russian, original pictorial wrappers by Chirikova, some marking, rebacked in plain paper, [Kilgour 291], Petersburg & Berlin, 1922; Versty [Mileposts] ...vypusk I [issue I], some age-toning, original printed wrappers, a couple of small superficial splits at spine but overall a fine copy, Russian bookseller's small stamp on inside front cover, Moscow , 1922, 8vo (3) ⁂ Considered one of the great innovators of Russian poetry, Marina Tsvetaeva was at least in part the model for Lara in Pasternak's Doctor Zhivago , the author writing of her to Rilke she was "a born poet, a great talent ... who writes in a way that none of us in the USSR now writes."
