RUSSIA] DEMIDOFF, ANATOLE DE. Voyage dans la Russie meridionale et la Crimee . Paris: Gihaut Freres, n.d. [1848?]. Probable first edition. Half moroco of the period, marbled sides. 20 1/2 x 13 inches (51.5 x 43 cm); half-title, engraved title and 100 plates on india paper, mounted, the first eighty-seven with accompanying text leaves, the final thirteen costume plates without, as issued. Spine partially defective, boards rubbed, scattered foxing throughout, the plates generally clean (though their mounts with foxing). A classic Russian view book, from a journey undertaken in 1837. Also present is a smaller text volume pertaining to Demidoff's voyage, apparently the 1854 second edition, with hand-colored plates and a folding map (lacking the title page, the binding severely worn).
