Lot of 14 real photo postcards featuring large-scale musical groups, many of which are captured mid-performance. In one photograph, the South Norwalk American Band poses with their instruments at the Wilton Ball Grounds, July 4, 1921, while in another, an unnamed band performs "at the Michigan-Syracuse game," ca 1913. Also included is a rainy scene of a performance by the collegiate performers of the St. Olaf's Band, Northfield, MN, as well as an indoor view of mixed-age "Chorus Group" from Camp Ground, OH. Inscription on verso denotes that the mustachioed man marked with "X" is "Mr. Ackley, Billy, Sunday's pianist. . . He is splendid." The man with the trombone at far right is identified as "Prof. Rodehauer [?]." Another image of note features the Good Shepherd Home Band of Allentown, PA, with members posed in uniform with their instruments, their tour bus, and a horse. Lengthy caption reads in part: "The Good Shepherd Home Band of Crippled Orphans, with 'CLOVER,' the oldest horse in the world. . . This picture was taken July 8, 1923, "CLOVER," the Methuselah of the horse world died April 26, 1924-aged 53 years.
