ROYALS] BENSON, ARTHUR CHRISTOPHER. The Book of the Queen's Dolls' House; The Book of the Queen's Dolls' House Library . London: Methuen & Co., 1924. One of 1,500 sets, this one of a very few copies inscribed by Queen Mary (in the first volume) "For Dick Molyneux/from/Mary R./Christmas/Badminton/1941." Two volumes, original buckram backed boards, slipcased. 10 x 7 1/2 inches (25.5 x 19 cm); xiv, 249 pp., plates; xiv, 384 pp., plates. Slipcase somewhat worn, spines very slightly age-toned, overall a nice set. Rare inscribed by Queen Mary; the only other copy we note at auction is that of the Duke of Windsor, her son. Dick Molyneux was an habitué of the Sandringham and Windsor circle, and a personal friend of Queen Mary (grandmother of the present Queen). The second volume has a contribution by Arthur Conan Doyle, "How Watson Learned the Trick," p. 92 et seq. De Waal 821. C
