UNPARALLELED SPIRITS Christie’s are excited to present a comprehensive, varied and compelling selection of rare spirits in this auction. This is one of the more extensive offerings of spirits that we’ve brought to market in the last two years. The collection has at its heart, a significant and impressive selection of whiskies. We are thrilled to present a rare lot of the Royal Salute Age Collection II, which is consigned direct from the distillery and includes a unique experience, in addition to a superlative vertical lot of Midleton Very Rare Whisky, which includes every vintage release from 1984 – 2020, a unique opportunity to acquire a collection of Ireland’s finest spirit, and again, with a one-off opportunity to visit the distillery and taste whiskies from barrel – an entirely bespoke opportunity that is not open to the public. Alongside these rarities, we will offer a broad range of The Macallan, Glenlivet, Ardbeg and others. Moving away from whisky and toward rum, we are excited to present one of the oldest and rarest bottles of Rum that has ever been offered for auction – The Harewood Rum 1780. It is an honour for this ancient rum, believed to be the oldest known rum in existence, to be returning to our salerooms, after the original sale we arranged for The Earl of Harewood in 2013. Alongside The Harewood Rum, we also have superb Caroni and Clement rums from the mid-20th century. Armagnac has long been a star of our salerooms, and with this in mind we proudly present a superb collection of Armagnacs from Laubade, one of the most important producers of the region. This offering includes many vintage from the earliest years of the 20th century, through to classic vintages of the post war era – an opportunity not to be missed. Of final mention, is a collection of grappa so singular, that it requires very focused attention. Romano Levi was without doubt the most important and iconic producer of spirits in Piedmont. His grappas were legendary, bespoke spirits, each crafted differently, using a range of ageing vessels and production methods. The labels are particularly noteworthy, each one was hand-drawn and unique, no two labels are exactly the same. In this auction we are offering an extremely rare vertical covering the period 1981 – 2008. ROYAL SALUTE THE AGE COLLECTION II The Age Collection II was created to celebrate longevity by marking Queen Elizabeth II celebrating her Sapphire Jubilee, the first British monarch to do so, and to commemorate the moment she became the longest reigning living sovereign. This ultra limited edition set of 10 exceptional blends starts at 25 years old, Elizabeth's age when she became a queen, and ends at an astonishing 55 years old whisky. With only 25 sets produced, the precious collection is housed in prestigious Dartington Crystal decanters and displayed on a beautifully crafted American Oak plinth designed by celebrated British architect Sally Mackereth and inspired by the mountains and valleys of Royal Salute's home in Strathisla based in the Speyside Valley.
