[Royal interest] Cartier, a silver rectangular presentation box by Jacques Cartier, London 1991, engraved Cartier London 925 R7923, the cover engraved with the Prince of Wales's feathers to an applied oval reserve, on a linear ground, the lower edge and thumbpiece is plain gold coloured, 6.3cm (2 1/2in) long, in a Cartier fitted case; together with a handwritten note in black ink on official paper in Prince Charles's hand Henriette, This very small token of affection comes with heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of your 80th birthday- and with much love from Charles Dame Henriette, Lady Abel Smith, DCVO, JP (1914-2005), was a Lady-in-Waiting to Queen Elizabeth II from 1949 to 1987. She married firstly Major Sir Anthony Frederick Mark Palmer, 4th Baronet (1914-1941); secondly to Brigadier Sir Alexander Abel Smith (1904-1980); and by direct descent to the present vendor.
