London: John Murray 1819-1827. 16 volumes. 18 volumes [4-22 and Index to the first 20 volumes, lacking volumes 6 and 18], 8 o (213 x 130 mm). Numerous plates throughout, some folding. Volume 4 bound in contemporary half morocco, volume 12 bound in contemporary half calf, the others uniformly bound in contemporary half calf, spines eleborately tooled in blind (general wear over all, some joints weak). Provenance : Vol.1 only: Handyside (bookplate), R. Mullineux Walmsley (bookplate); Vol. 12 only: Ashmolean Society (bookplate). Although not an official publication of the Royal Institution, The Quarterly Journal was closely connected with it. It contained original papers, details of lectures given at the institution, summaries of papers published in overseas journals, and book reviews. This lot is sold as a periodical not subject to return. (18)
