ROYAL BINDING WITH ROYAL SIGNATURE. Prieres a l'usage du roy, tirées des pseaumes du roy prophete, de la sagesse de Salomon, & des livres des roys. Paris (de l'impr. de Jacques Langlois 1677. 12:o. (12), (1)-60 pp. Contemporary red morocco, double fillet with fleur-de-lys in the corners and in the centre the crowned arms of France and Navarre, gilt inner borders, gilt edges of covers, gilt spine with fleur-de lys in five compartments, all edges gilt. New halfmorocco chemise with gilt title and in a new red cloth case. Some minor dampstaining to lower inner corners. Old inscription on one of the first endpapers "Livre donné par sa maiesté 1695 F. L. Cherade". The signature of the king "Louis" on recto of the same endpaper. Exhibited at Versailles in 1953: Versailles, the chateau and its history in books and pictures: catalogue of an exhibition aranged for the National Book League by Desmond Flower in co-operation with René Varin, Cultural Counsellor at the French Embassy. Loosely inserted a catalogue cut from Maggs. Bros. Probably Louis XIV (1638-1715).
