After completing the Harry Potter series, Rowling published her first book outside of the juvenile fiction arena, The Casual Vacancy in 2012. She then began writing a series of detective novels under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, but discussions on social media led to an investigation by journalist Richard Brooks, and the true identity of the author was revealed. As a result, Cuckoo's Calling, the first of the Galbraith novels, became a number 1 bestseller. A total of seven novels in the "Cormoran Strike" series were published, of which Career of Evil was the third.
