[Parsons (Robert)] A Christian directorie guiding men to their saluation, woodcut head- and tail-pieces and decorative or historiated initials, trimmed at head, affecting headlines to varying degrees, some staining and spotting, the odd short tear, lightly browned, 18th century panelled calf, spine in compartments, spine with central split and worn at ends, but holding firm, joints starting, but holding firm, corners worn, rubbed, [STC 19354.1], 8vo, [Rouen], [Printed at Fr. Parsons's Press], 30th August, 1585. ⁂ Rare in commerce. 'An enlarged version of his "The first booke of the Christian exercise", in response to the Protestant adaptation by Edmund Bunny entitled "A booke of Christian exercise.' (ESTC). Provenance: 'John Barlow 1716', ?Welsh politician, High Sheriff of Pembrokeshire and later M.P. for Haverfordwest (ink inscription to front pastedown); Alfred White (engraved circular armorial bookplate to front pastedown).
