The recipient was the sister of the notable Pre-Raphaelite patron and collector Constatine Ionides; she was a friend and correspondent of William Morris and Sir Edward Burne-Jones as well as Rossetti. "Is Miss Leeson [a model] still to be got at, do you know? She called more than once at intervals, but I shall now be wanting her -- i.e. if she does not object to sit for shoulders & arms. I wd pay her the full day, even if I only worked for an hour or two...You spoke of ordering my book but I shall have one for you when it comes out. They say the Season is past & that it must be deferred till autumn..."
