ROQUES, Joseph. Phytographie médicale, ornée de figures coloriées de grandeur naturelle . Paris: Didot the Younger for the Author, 1821 [-1824]. 2 volumes, 4 o (310 x 224 mm). Half-titles. 180 plates printed in color and finished by hand by Edouard Hocquart (some minor spotting and occasional light offsetting from text onto plates). Contemporary calf-backed paper boards, uncut (rebacked preserving original spines, some color retouched on boards, corners repaired). Provenance : Saint-Phalle family of Cudot (ex-libris stamp on half-titles). FIRST EDITION, describing medicinal, poisonous, and narcotic plants including mushrooms, poppies, and cannabis, as well as their remedies.
