The First Lady, wearing a lace-decorated formal gown, sits in a carved chair; the President, standing to her right, rests one arm on the chair back. This uncommon image is likely to have been taken during Roosevelt's presidency, almost certainly between 1900 and 1909. Provenance : The Douglas Campbell Collection (sale, Christie's, 19 December 2002, lot 335).
