African Game Trails: An Account of the African Wanderings of an American Hunter-Naturalist. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1910. 2 volumes. 8vo (250 x 165 mm). Half titles, titles printed in red and black, photogravure frontispieces, and 47 photogravure plates, being reproductions of photographs by Theodore and Kermit Roosevelt, and drawings by Philip R. Goodwin, most with captioned tissue guards. Top edges roughly cut, others uncut. Publisher's half pigskin, over card boards, spines stamped in blind, a few corners slightly bumped. Original tan colored dust jackets, spines lettered similarly, one with a very small chip at the head of spine. Original card slipcase, rubbed and lacking the upper panel. Contained in a later brown morocco backed drop flap box, spine lettered in gilt. DELUXE EDITION, number 117 of 500 copies, on Ruisdael paper, signed by the author, with the very rare dust jackets, and the original slipcase African Game Trails records the Smithsonian-Roosevelt African Expedition, which is how Roosevelt spent the majority of his post-White House years.
