Although in 1913 dry-fly fishers would no longer use a rod from twelve to fifteen feet long, and a reel-line of twisted hair, "generally attached to the rod about ten to fourteen inches from the end of the butt," as Ronalds recommends, it is a remarkable testimony to his treatise that it could retain the confidence of practical anglers for at least a seventy-seven year period up to the publication of this eleventh edition.
