Robert Rauschenberg1925 - 2008
Opportunity #7oil, graphite, photograph, paper and silk collage on newsprint10¼ by 13¼ in.26 by 33.7 cm.Executed in 1956.Condition reportThis work is in very good condition overall. All collage elements appear stable and secure, with a few areas of minor lifting along the edges. Areas of stray adhesive are visible around collage elements and along the lower edge of the composition, inherent to the time of execution. There is an undulation to the sheet, most visible in the lower quadrant of the composition, which is inherent to the artist’s working method and chosen medium. Within the more thickly painted passages to the right and below the photograph collage there are areas of fine drying cracks with several resultant losses. The newsprint has discolored slightly with age. The edges of the newsprint are irregularly cut and exhibit scattered signs of wear as well as minor tears, all of which are not visible when framed within the artist’s specified mat window. The reverse of the newsprint has not been inspected. The colors are bright and fresh. Framed under Plexiglas in the artist’s chosen frame.
Framed dimensions: 21 ¼ by 17 ¼ in.  (54 by 43.8 cm.)
