RIZZI-ZANNONI, Giovanni Antonio (c. 1736 - 1814). Pianta della Città di Napoli [Naples: G. Guerra, 1790] and Topografia dell'Agro Napoletano con le sue Adjacenze [Naples: G. Guerra, 1792]. Two engraved maps of Naples, each on 2 sheets and mounted in 16 sections, 565 x 820mm; 585 x 885mm. The maps decorated with elaborate allegorical title cartouches and set within wide foliate borders with corner medallions. (Laid down on paper with slight wear along one join). Rizzi-Zannoni was geographer to the Republic of Venice. He was born in Padua, and studied astronomy and surveying. He became Chief Hydrographer Dépôt de Marine in 1772 and issued the first modern map of Naples in 1769 and a 32 sheet map of the Kingdom of Naples in 1812. (2)
