A Master printmaker, Richard Spare has editioned work for many contemporary artists, including David Hockney Robert Ryman Francesco Clemente Donald Sultan and Keith Haring In the late 70's he worked as David Hockney's assistant. In 1988 Richard spent several months in New York working with Jasper Johns proofing and editioning complex carborundum prints. Since founding his Wellington Studio in 1989, Richard has focused on his own artwork. Using his studio's garden, its wildlife and travel as his inspiration, he has published over 400 images. Richard is undertaking his 13th tour of Japan in late 2021, having already held over 200 solo exhibitions in over 30 cities across the country so far. A frequent exhibitor at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and a twice invited exhibitor at the Discerning Eye Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, Richard also regularly shows his work internationally, including being guest international artist for an inaugural Malborne Art Fair in 2012.
