RICCHI, Raphael Immanuel ben Abraham Hai (Italy-Aleppo; 1688-1743). Yosher Levav (on basic kabbalistic problems of Tsimtsum , creation and Kavvanot [mystical intentions]). MANUSCRIPT ON PAPER Aleppo, 1737? 4 o (215 x 150 mm). 1 + 46 + 7 leaves, with original Hebrew foliations. Brown ink. Oriental semi-cursive script. (Browning and dampstaining, a few leaves cropped, affecting some folio numbers and catchwords, last leaf damaged and skilfully repaired with loss of a few words.) Modern mottled maroon calf gilt, two modern and one older paper flyleaves at back and front. CONTENTS: Fol. [1]r: title-page of Yosher Levav , within simple frame. Fol. [1]v: blank. I. Fols. 1r-46v: text of Yosher Levav . Published for the first time in Amsterdam 1742 (Vinograd, Thesaurus , p. 65, no. 1553), and several times later. The order of the sections in this manuscript is slightly different from the editions; some of the chapters at the end of the manuscript were printed at the beginning of the editions. The author wrote the book in Aleppo in 1737 and the differences between the printed text and the manuscript suggest that it may have been copied before the book was printed (in the same year) or from an autograph copy. The writing does not resemble the handwriting of Ricchi as found in other autograph manuscripts. This is apparently the only manuscript copy of this work. II. Fols. 1r-7r: Kol ha-Mosif Gore'a by the same author. A halakhic treatise on the question whether it is permitted to call up more than the mandatory number of people to reading of the Torah. Not printed and apparently a unique copy. Fol. 7v: blank. PROVENANCE: Benjamin ben David Hayyim Pereira (title-page). REFERENCES: Neubauer, no. 126, p. 36; Institute of Microfilmed Hebrew Manuscripts, Jerusalem, F 4786.
